As most everyone knows, Forward Transit is sponsoring a holiday tree at The Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees, located at the Timonium Fairgrounds on November 23-25, 2012. This past Sunday, a group of family and friends of Forward Transit gathered at the Cow Palace on the Fairgrounds, to trim our tree with a favorite childhood icon theme of Alvin and the Chipmunks. A great time was had by all, big and small, as we decorated the tree, listened to holiday music, and enjoyed lunch together. We enjoyed our small party atmosphere, as we helped our community. This year’s participants are already eagerly volunteering to participate again next year.
Since its inception, Kennedy Krieger has worked hard to provide children with developmental disabilities of the brain, spinal cord, and musculoskeletal system with a wide array of services, from spearheading innovative research related to these disorders and providing state-of-the-art treatment, to fostering community life and encouraging affected children to reach their full potential.
The Festival of Trees, one of Kennedy Krieger’s signature annual events, serves as “the largest holiday extravaganza on the East Coast.” During the event, the trees that were generously decorated by volunteers (such as our own Forward Transit team) are auctioned off, benefiting Kennedy Krieger. Throughout the weekend, family fun and live entertainment fill the Cow Palace and create a warm holiday atmosphere. This year Mary Alice from Charm City Cakes and Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” will be joining in the fun and doing her own holiday reading for kids.
