On November 16, Patty and I had the great opportunity to volunteer at Perry Hall High School’s Senior Interview Day. We arrived promptly at 7 am for our 7:30-11:30am shift. This was the first time either one of us had volunteered for mock interviews. The interviews took place inside the school gym. We checked in, enjoyed some light breakfast and coffee, and were lead to our seats to patiently await the seniors to arrive. The gym was broken up into a variety of career fields such as business, government, science, public relations, and art. I was seated in the Art section, Patty under business. It was very interesting interviewing each student and learning a little about what their hopes and aspirations were for the future. I tried my best to give them good feedback and tips on what they could do to improve. If anything it is nice to see such eager faces. Unfortunately there were not that many people who volunteered to come in, so Patty and I were swamped with interviews way passed our allocated shift. If you ever get a chance you should definitely volunteer for any mock interview day. At the very least you will be able to share your own work experiences and help the new faces of the workforce be a little more prepared for what’s ahead.
