Festival of Trees has grown significantly since its first year at Festival Hall and is now the largest holiday event of its kind on the entire East Coast! The event itself has tripled in size to more than 150,000 square feet of holiday fun and now features over 500 trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses decorated by local families, organizations, and businesses. In 2009, over the course of three days, Festival of Trees drew in more than 40,000 attendees and raised nearly $900,000!!
Although Festival of Tree has gone through a number of changes, the core mission of the event has stayed the same: to raise funds for the children with disabilities served by the Kennedy Krieger Institute and to continue to increase awareness of the Institute by creating a spectacular event for the greater Baltimore community to enjoy. Over the years, Festival of Trees has become an eagerly anticipated tradition for many families throughout the region.
We will go down and decorate the tree on Sunday, November 18 from 12 noon till 2pm at the Maryland State Fairgrounds/Cow Palace, 2200 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093. Everyone from the enterprise is welcome to participate. The theme will be “Alvin and the Chipmunks” Christmas! Help with finding Alvin tree decorations and decorating ideas are encouraged!!!
On the day we decorate I will buy lunch for everyone on the team that comes down to decorate, yes you did read that right, I will pry open the Forward Transit wallet and we will have a great time!
