Barbara Blake – Animal Welfare Society of Howard County : The Animal Welfare Society has been serving Howard County, Maryland community since 1944. They offer low-cost sterilizations and vaccinations to help reduce pet overpopulation and the incidence of disease. They are also a rescue organization for companion animals. Most often, they rescue pets from overcrowded high-kill shelters. Barb’s donation saved 30 dogs that would otherwise have been euthanized.
Bobby Harris – Comfort Zone Camp : Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17, and are held year-round across the Country.
Beth Hall – Autism Society of Baltimore : The Autism Society of Baltimore-Chesapeake is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to acting as a voice for all people along the autism spectrum in the greater Baltimore area. The organization exists as a resource for anyone who needs help and support with the difficult job of raising, working with and/or advocating for a person diagnosed with autism. Beth’s donation went to supporting Honestly Autism Day, a day devoted to understanding autism where parents, family members, professionals, and people with autism come together to listen, ask question and learn from each other.
Danielle Hainsey – Small Miracles : Small Miracles Cat & Dog Rescue is a private, nonprofit, no-kill shelter dedicated to providing the best possible care and finding forever homes for as many homeless cats and dogs as we are able. Danielle’s donation saved dogs that would otherwise have been euthanized in California.
Ira Levy – Columbia Jewish Congregation : Columbia Jewish Congregation (CJC) is a welcoming, egalitarian community affiliated with the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement. It was founded in the late 1960’s by early Columbia, Maryland residents who brought an experimental spirit and desire to create a more personal Jewish community than the synagogue life of their youth. They wanted to raise their children in a progressive environment open to all varieties of Jewish practice and learning. From this beginning, CJC and the Columbia Jewish Community School (CJCS) were born. Now an established congregation of 300 households, including traditional, interfaith, same-sex families, and singles, CJC strives to apply Torah values in our congregation and our community.
Tyler Candee – Odenton Baptist Church : The Odenton Baptist Church is a Fundamental, Independent, Baptist Church.Tyler’s donation was put into a fund to help pay for medical expenses for the missionaries they support. Many of these missionaries have medical needs, in third world countries where medical coverage can be difficult.
